Frequently Asked Questions

How is in-hand salary calculated from CTC? +

In-hand = CTC minus employer PF, gratuity and yearly bonus (this gives gross salary), then minus employee PF, professional tax and income tax. Divide by 12 for the monthly figure. The calculator does every step and shows the breakup.

What is the in-hand salary for 12 LPA? +

About Rs 85,400 a month under the new regime with a common structure (50% basic, PF on full basic, gratuity in CTC, Karnataka professional tax). Income tax is zero because taxable income stays under Rs 12 lakh after the standard deduction.

Is income up to 12 lakh tax free in the new regime? +

Yes for tax year 2026-27, if your taxable income is Rs 12 lakh or less you pay no tax because of the Section 87A rebate. For salaried people that means a salary of about Rs 12.75 lakh after the Rs 75,000 standard deduction, before PF and other parts are removed.

Which tax regime is better for me? +

The new regime is better for most people now. The old regime wins only if you claim large deductions, like HRA on high rent plus full 80C, 80D and home loan interest. The calculator compares both and marks the better one.

What are the new regime tax slabs for FY 2026-27? +

Up to Rs 4 lakh: nil. 4-8 lakh: 5%. 8-12 lakh: 10%. 12-16 lakh: 15%. 16-20 lakh: 20%. 20-24 lakh: 25%. Above 24 lakh: 30%. Plus 4% cess, and no tax up to Rs 12 lakh taxable income.

How much PF is deducted from salary? +

12% of your basic salary goes from your pay to PF, and your employer adds 12% from the CTC. Some companies cap it at 12% of Rs 25,000 (Rs 3,000 a month), the EPF wage ceiling from 17 September 2026. Pick the option your offer letter uses.

Is gratuity part of my CTC? +

In many companies, yes: about 4.81% of basic is shown in CTC but paid only when you leave after 5 years of service. It is not part of your monthly pay. Untick the box if your offer letter does not include it.

What is professional tax? +

A state tax on salaries, up to Rs 2,500 a year. Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, Gujarat and some other states charge it. Delhi, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab do not.

Why is my in-hand lower than CTC divided by 12? +

Because CTC includes money you do not get every month: employer PF, gratuity and bonus. Then employee PF, professional tax and income tax are deducted from your gross pay.

Is bonus included in monthly in-hand? +

No. Variable pay and bonus are usually paid once or twice a year. The calculator shows them separately and spreads only the tax on them across the year.

Does this calculator include ESI? +

Yes. If your monthly gross salary is Rs 21,000 or less, it adds employee ESI (0.75%) and employer ESI (3.25%) automatically.

CTC se in-hand salary kaise nikale? +

Upar apna saalana CTC daaliye. Calculator PF, professional tax aur income tax kaat kar mahine ki in-hand salary batata hai, new aur old regime dono mein.
