How Does a Word Counter Work for Indian Scripts?

Most word counters online split text by spaces and count the pieces. This works well for English and it also works well for Indian languages because all major Indian languages use spaces between words, just like English.

Whether you are writing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Gujarati, each word is separated by a space. The word counter identifies these spaces and counts the segments. This is why no special language mode is needed, paste text in any Indian language and the count is accurate.

One thing to note: Sentence counting uses punctuation marks. For Hindi and Marathi, the tool also recognises the Devanagari danda (।) as a sentence-ending mark — so sentence count works accurately for these languages too.
